What a lovely first week we had back at school. All the children came back to school happy and ready to learn. We began our new topic 'Under the sea' on Monday. The children have enjoyed playing in our under water den and learning our new poem 'The Sea'. They really enjoyed playing in our slimy seaweed spaghetti!
The Year 1 children have done lots of writing this week and thought about writing our own golden rules for the playground and their own seaside poems during history. In maths they have been learning about number and place value. They have also been learning how to count in 10's. Reception have worked hard to learn and perform our class poem. They have also experimented mixing colours and painting on shiny tinfoil to make their own rainbow fish.
On Tuesday, Colette (the Vicar at Whitley Church) came and gave an assembly on bullying which all the children enjoyed. On Friday we held a special Remembrance Day assembly. The children thought about all those who have served for our country. They shared stories about there own families and asked some very pertinent questions. This week we celebrated Seth and Caleb for super writing. Well done to both of them.
In the coming week we will be going to the theatre and supporting Children in need, so we have another busy week ahead!
