Children with Additional Needs (SEND)
The SEND Information Report (See below) forms part of the Cheshire West and Chester Local Offer and provides details about how Whitley Village School supports children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This report outlines our policy and practice in delivering high-quality SEND provision.
The SEN Information Report was last reviewed and updated in September 2025.
Whitley Village School values the unique contribution of every child and welcomes diversity in culture, religion, and intellectual style. We are committed to offering an inclusive curriculum to ensure the best possible progress for all pupils, whatever their needs and abilities. The school seeks to raise achievement, remove barriers to learning, and increase physical and curricular access for all. All children with SEND and vulnerable groups are valued, respected, and equal members of the school community.
As such, providing for pupils with SEND is a responsibility shared by the school as a whole. “All teachers are teachers of pupils with SEND.”
This SEND Information Report should be read alongside the school’s SEND Policy, the Equalities Information and Objectives, and the Accessibility Plan.

Local Support and Services
The full range of local support available for children/young people with SEND and their families within and outside of school can be found in the Cheshire West and Chester Local Offer .
Consulting about SEND
Teachers, the SENDCo, and Support Staff will work collaboratively with children and young people to identify the support needed to meet agreed outcomes. The provision is planned, and interventions are allocated based on individual needs based on the resources that we have.
As part of our transition arrangements and review cycle, we consult all children about the teaching strategies and support mechanisms that have been used throughout the year. We specifically engage children with SEND to listen to and value their views.
Consultation with Parents and Carers of Children and Young People with SEND
We are committed to working in partnership with parents and carers to identify their child’s needs and support them. Parents and carers will be involved throughout the entire process.
This consultation occurs in a range of ways, including:
- Termly parents/carers evenings.
- Ongoing discussions with the class teacher and/or SENDCo.
- An ‘open-door’ policy, where parents and carers are welcome to come into school to discuss any concerns they may have.
- Regular reviews of their child’s SEN Support Plan or Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan.
- We will also be starting a yearly parent questionnaire, which specifically regards SEND and provision in school.(Autumn 2025)
Compliments, Complaints & Feedback
At Whitley Village School, we value the contributions made by parents and carers. Any concerns, complaints, or compliments can be made by contacting our school office.
We are always seeking to improve the quality of education we provide for children with SEN and are keen to hear from parents about their child’s experience.
We would also appreciate your views about the content of this SEN Information Report. If you would like to comment, please feel free to contact us.
Compliments are always greatly received and can be passed on either directly to staff and the SENDCo or formally recorded via our regular questionnaires.
We hope that complaints about our SEND provision will be rare; however, should a concern arise, the process outlined in the school Complaints Policy should be followed.
Further information can be found in the Complaints Policy in the School Policies section of our website or by visiting the Cheshire West and Chester Information, Advice and Support (IAS) Service website.
